Creating a Home Yoga Space

in Journal

Don't worry, you don’t need too much to get started with your home yoga practice. In fact, you could start with nothing more than a good mat on the floor! A yoga space needs to be inviting, even if it's just a temporary clearing of your living room.
Hopefully the below tips will be useful in helping you create the best space you can to enjoy your mindful yoga practice at home!

First things first, yoga equipment
First and most important, a yoga mat, of course. Beyond that, gather your props that can support your practice. If you are looking for an environmentally friendly, quality yoga mat and props, and you also want to remove plastic from your practice, please check out our mindful yoga mats and cork collection of yoga mats and props.

Find the right spot
Your personal yoga space can be any room where you can practice, but try and choose the brightest room in your home and make sure to minimize the distractions around your practice space. The space doesn’t have to be big, but it should be quiet, clean, and sacred.

Get green and bring the outside in
Bring in plants and other natural elements. Houseplants are thought to boost mood, improve focus, and relieve stress. They will brighten a space, purify the air and help to create a more relaxing ambiance in any room of your home.

Decorate and set the mood
Get yourself some soy candles or oil diffusers. Scents might help put you in the right headspace. Fill the space with pleasant smells and add things that make you happy and joyful.

Ready, set, flow!
Set your intention for practice. Step onto your mat, sit, breathe and see what flows. Let go of perfection and embrace your practice.
