10 Tips for Self Care Awareness Month – September

in Journal

Summer is ending and Autumn is knocking on the door and with it time to slow down and look inward. September as a self-care awareness month brings us change. If we are mindful enough it gives us the chance to recognize the beauty in transition. Sometimes we can feel some change will occur, while other times it comes suddenly and unexpectedly. Self-care is repetition of many daily habits to preserve or improve one’s own health and well-being to cope with change.

Below you'll find some self-care ideas for your mind, body and soul!

1. Start a gratitude journal
If someone were to ask you what you are grateful for in the present moment, would you have an answer ready to go? Practice gratitude to focus on what really matters in your life.

2. Write a letter to release your emotions
Take a few minutes and write out your thoughts. Write about anything that is bothering you. Then let it go as you burn that letter.

3. Check your circle
'Show me your friends and I'll show you your future'. Make a short list of the people in your life who genuinely support you, and whom you can genuinely trust.

4. Forgive someone
Did someone hurt you? Write down their names and write a forgiveness letter to each person on your list. Include everything you wish you could have said back then and everything you wish you could say to them right now. Don’t rush the process. If it’s too much for you to complete in one sitting, come back to it when you’re ready. It is not going to be easy, but it will be so worth it.

5. Find a new hobby
Try yourself in writing, knitting or crocheting, make a sourdough bread, dive into reading, learn a new language, DIY candle making, etc. Whatever makes you feel good.

6. Build a skin care routine
No self-care routine is complete without giving your skin some extra love with a gentle massage by using one of our Crystal Face Rollers which helps to alleviate tension and stimulate your blood flow.

7. Reconnect with yourself
Write a list of all the things you’re proud of about yourself, about your life. What did I do right today? How far I've come? What am I most excited about in my life now?

8. Release your fears
What is stopping you from taking action? Releasing fears is a skill that anyone can learn. Open your heart, face them and release them.

9. Get to know yourself intimately
Get to know your body, look without judgment at yourself naked, feel yourself naked, touch yourself naked.

10. Unplug for a day
Turn off or switch everything to airplane mode and free yourself from constant calls, bings of social media apps and emails. Enjoy some quality 'Me' time.
